Question Candy Cane Shards

I have been doing several rounds in the snowball arena and have been awarded with several candy cane shards. I have heard rumors about their uses but no one seems to know exactly what they are for. Some people say you can trade them for candy cane weapons where others say you save up for a santa hat at the finale.

Does anyone actually know what they are for and how many you will need?!

No, and no.

Last year, you could trade 4 Shards for a Candy Cane Weapon. That won't happen this year, since the Wintergreen Weapons are obtained through different means.

They website says they will be encessary at the end of the event. So be patient.

ok thanks.

that probably means we must trade 250 shards for the "festive headgear" at the finale on 1st Jan.

I doubt you'll need that much.

I really really really doubt you'll need that much, as the only way to get that many for most players, would be to buy them in town. This is because there are more casual players than there are hardcore omg play all day (me) players.

I doubt you even need Candy Cane Shards to trade for the Festival Headgear, but I bet you would need them as an offering to be on either Grenth's or Dwayna's side to receive their Festival Headgear.

I have about 50-some of them, but I'm out of town until January 3rd. Will I still be able to trade them in?

There will not be a Candy Cane Shard collector for those who missed the Final day.

It has been confirmed by Gaile Gray that you do not need them for the mask.

However, other worries will be quite moot, I think.

I'll have more info in a day or two.

hm, I have found them easy to come by....between the quest rewards (5 per) and them dropping like crazy from monsters....I have close to 100 already....I hope there is something besides the weapons to use them for---I still have them from last year taking up space on one of my mules! Maybe you get the rainbow candycanes from the shards.....that would be ok. But will wait and see......and hope that the festival hat guy will reproduce the tba hat so I can get some sleep on new years (unlike halloween).
I am really enjoying this winterdays stuff this year!

The candysmiths have shown up now. At least, I saw one in Kamadan, and from a post in these forums I infer there are others.

Yeah, just trade them to the candy smithes. Nine for a weapon, and if you are in the arena area, before the snowball fight, there is a candysmith that trades you sheilds and a focus for 12 each.
